Simply Fast is a very simple, no-frills app to help you achieve your time-restricted fasting goals. It follows a minimalist approach and is built with ease of use and practical utility in mind.

Supported Features

  • This app runs on both iPhone and Apple Watch. To check if your device and/or OS version is supported, please visit this app’s page on the Apple App Store.
  • Simple, beautiful and easy to use design.
  • The app allows you to configure the starting time and the duration of your fasting window. The starting time can be any time of the day from 12:00 am to 12:00 pm, in half hour increments only, for example 12:00 am, 12:30 am, 1:00 am etc. The fasting durations (in hours) supported are 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19. Also the app has a status area which displays the current diet window and the remaining time.
  • On Apple Watch, the app supports all of the following complication types – Modular Small, Modular Large, Utilitarian Small, Utilitarian Small Flat, Utilitarian Large, Circular Small, Extra Large, Graphic Corner, Graphic Circular, Graphic Bezel and Graphic Rectangular. Complications with less screen real estate shows only the current diet window type (“F” for fasting window, “E” for eating window and “OFF” when diet is disabled). Those with more screen area display the remaining time as well. In Graphic complications only, a progress bar or ring would be present. Other complications may have a full circular border around them, but it does not change or indicate progress.
  • The app sends one notification each to notify the start of fasting window and eating window. If you are using the app on Apple Watch, notifications may appear on your iPhone or Apple Watch depending on various factors like lock/sleep states of the devices, notification settings etc. Also for your Apple Watch to receive notifications, it should be paired and connected to your iPhone.
  • By default, the app uses the color red to indicate fasting window and green to indicate eating window. If you prefer to swap the colors you can do so by double tapping on the progress bar on iPhone or Apple Watch when the diet is enabled.
  • No sign-in or account needed to use the app.
  • There are no ads or unnecessary pop ups.
  • We respect your privacy. The app does not send us any form of information.

Usage

iPhone

  • Launch the app on your iPhone.
  • On the first launch, the app will display a permission dialog to allow notifications. Please tap on “Allow” button to allow the app to display notifications. You can also change this permission setting via Settings App > Simply Fast > Notifications.
  • Select the Fasting Start Time and Fasting Duration.
  • Tap on the “Start Diet” button to enable the diet. The button now changes to “Stop Diet“. Tapping one more time on the button will disable the diet.
  • Double tap on the progress bar to swap the fasting and eating status colors.

Apple Watch

  • Launch the app on your Apple Watch.
  • Select the Fasting Start Time and Fasting Duration. You can use the digital crown or the touch screen to scroll the list of values.
  • Tap on the “Start Diet” button to enable the diet. The button now changes to “Stop Diet“. Tapping one more time on the button will disable the diet.
  • Swipe left to see the diet status page. Swipe right to return to main page.
  • Double tap on the progress bar to swap the fasting and eating status colors.
  • You can also customize your watch face to add the app’s complication onto it.
